Saxophonist Casey Benjamin Dead At 45

Casey Benjamin, a two-time Grammy-winning saxophonist and one of the original members of the eclectic Robert Glasper Experiment band

Benjamin was born in Queens, New York, in 1978, and first picked up a saxophone at 8 years old. 

His management confirmed the news to HuffPost on Monday. No cause of death was given. He was 45. 

“We have been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and Casey’s esteemed music community,” a statement from the family read 

“Casey stayed true to the art of his music, and the energy of his spirit will live on in eternity.”

He worked with various notable musicians over the years, including Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Nas, Ye, Mary J. Blige, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def and many more.
